Mines’ Minority Engineering Program students had a rewarding time at both the American Indian Science and Engineering Society (AISES) and Society of Hispanic Professional Engineers (SHPE) national conferences this fall.
At the AISES national conference, Eva Salas, a senior majoring in mechanical engineering, presented her summer research on solid oxide fuel cell fabrication methods using tape casting and co-firing at the National Energy Technology Laboratory. She did an outstanding job in the oral presentation and was rewarded with the 3rd place prize.
At the SHPE national conference, our Academic Olympiad Team, which consisted of Roxanna Meza, Alex Lopez, Daniel Cruz and Eduardo Cervantes, tied for 3rd place with UCLA. The Mines team took first place in the region.
